ERGObaby

ERGObaby

The Best Ergonomic Baby Carrier EVER

ERGObabyLaunched in 2003, designer Karin Frost is the founder of ERGObaby, a brand offering a wide range of baby-wearing products such as organic and ergonomic ERGObaby carriers, Backpacks, Front Pouches, Weather Covers, Papoose Coats, Teething Pads, Doll Carriers, and more.  The purpose behind all these products is that they are designed to make baby-wearing simple and enjoyable for both babies and parents.  Customer feedback and appreciation for ERGObaby expressed most often are praises for its ergonomic support, which comforts the wearer’s back, and the baby’s relaxed state that lends itself easily to sleep.  Customers also love the variety of beautiful designs, the innovations and safety of ERGObaby.  “The ERGObaby carrier is truly the only carrier parents will ever need, accommodating babies from newborn to 45lbs, and switching easily from front to back to hip positions,” says Karin.

ERGObabyKarin has always been creative and one of her first memories was sewing at her grandmother’s house in Denmark when she was just nine years old. Later in her adult life, she was a clothing designer before launching ERGObaby.  She earned a Master in Arts from the Department of Design at the University of Minnesota.  Karin says, “One of the greatest gifts anyone can be given is the opportunity to be a parent. I remember when my son was only a few days old, sound asleep in his bassinet; my strong desire to pick him up and hold him close to my heart dominated any other need.”  Her mothering instinct to keep him safe, secure and content has always been her driving force.  When she started ERGObaby, Karin says her intention was “to create a product line that would promote and enhance the ability of parents to safely and comfortably keep their babies close to them as often as possible.”  Eight years later, her research into the science behind baby-wearing has affirmed her mothering instincts and she knows, beyond a doubt, that bonding with and nurturing babies from infancy with the help of baby-wearing is absolutely the best way.

ERGObabyThe Organic Highland Navy Plaid Baby Carrier is our Editor’s Pick because it is the only baby carrier you will need, lasting from infancy to older.  Made of 100% organic cotton twill, the dark navy blue exterior looks great on both moms and dads, while the blue and grey tartan plaid lining adds a bit of modern country contrast.  This carrier is extremely comfortable as it is ergonomically correct for both the parent and child and fits from 5’ to 6.5’ body height with adjustable straps.  It can be worn in the front, back, and hip positions and has an elastic sleeping hood for the baby.  When used with the Infant Insert, this carrier can be used with newborns up to 45 pounds.  The ERGObaby carrier is different from other popular carriers on the market because it is ergonomically designed for the parent and baby.  The ERGObaby carrier evenly distributes the baby’s weight on the parent’s body, offering correct ERGOnomic positioning for both baby and parent. The ERGObaby carrier allows parents to be hands free and can be used for babies from newborn to 45 lbs.  Celebrities including Amanda Peet, Bridget Moynahan, Carrie-Ann Moss, Courtney Thorne-Smith, Ellen Pompeo, Ethan Hawke, Giselle Bundchen, Julia Roberts, Karolina Kurkova, Kelly Rutherford, Keri Russell, Minnie Driver, Reed Diamond, Cat Cora, and Arnold Vosloo have purchased ERGObaby carriers.

Karin began ERGObaby nine years ago with the design of a single baby carrier for her son.  She sewed each stitch herself, bringing improvements to the baby carriers and slings she found on the market through input and feedback from her son, herself, and friends who had also used carriers she made for them.  Karin travels often to all the corners of the earth, from India and China to Europe and beyond, with ERGObaby.  She sees that she is supported in her convictions on the benefits of baby-wearing, not only by the generous and unanimous research done by their fulltime researcher, but also by the fact that all indigenous cultures experienced these benefits from ERGObabycarrying their babies close to their bodies their hearts with a shared breath.  Through extensive research and customer feedback, they created the Organic Infant Insert for use with newborns up to four to five months with the baby carrier.  Made of 100% organic cotton fabric and filling, this insert was designed to encourage healthy maturation of the spine by supporting the pelvis, hip joint, and leg position rather than putting a baby in a compromising sitting position before the spine is ready. The insert also supports the safety of the baby's head and neck in this critical stage of development as it is specially padded and holds the baby in a cozy, protected environment close to the heart.  Available in silver and beige, the inserts are meant to compliment ERGObaby carriers.

In coming up with ideas for designs, Karin listens to friends, customers and her intuition, and ultimately derives inspiration from her own experience.  ERGObaby’s popular style and fabrics are available for awhile before evolving to the next design generation.  They also offer brand new designs, colors, and fabric choices annually.  Their standard ergonomically sound design structure for all ERGObaby carriers is a constant, based on the worldwide testimonials received.  “Only slight modifications and improvements are made to what are our standard designs, where we can add versatility or improved functionality,” adds Karin.  ERGObabyLastly, we selected the Organic Twill Back Pack as a favorite because it easily snaps around the straps of the ERGObaby carrier, making it a complete all-in-one baby carrier and day pack that blends right in.  This back pack is roomy enough to carry your baby’s necessities like a towel, diapers, change of clothes, snacks, and more for a short getaway or hike.  The Velcro-secured storage area on the back conceals the padded shoulder straps and the moisture-resistant inside pocket handles soiled items.  Well equipped with four outside pockets, two inside zippered pockets, a side zippered pocket, and an attached bottle holder, this back pack can also be used independently of the baby carrier as a day pack.  Shown here in sea green, this backpack is also available in other colors to match your organic baby carrier.

ERGObaby is sold at multiple retailers nationwide, online, and worldwide.  While ERGObaby is sold globally, they are still expanding rapidly each ERGObabyyear.  Her current role as Chief Design Officer gives her the opportunity to grow further.  Karin says, “Our intention in all our designs is to evolve a clearly regenerative, relaxing, and enjoyable family lifestyle. We are dedicated in our mission of bringing independent global research to parents who are interested in understanding the optimal choices they have to empower themselves and their children to grow and develop their fullest potential.”  ERGObaby is especially passionate about their emerging voice as an authority on the new parenting paradigm with their online magazine, ergoparent.com, in addition to resources available on their website, ergobabycarrier.com
