Gara Danielle Jewelry
Talent Shines Bright with Designer to the Stars
When Gara Post began working in television developing Reality TV after graduating from college, she started designing jewelry in her spare time by making pieces for herself. She made her own jewelry because she wanted something different and craved pieces that would capture her personal sense of style, both feminine and eclectic. Soon enough, her designs caught the attention of stylists who worked there, and after nothing but positive feedback, she decided to focus on creating her own line. Gara Danielle Jewelry launched in September 2001. This fashion line is made with 14kt gold-filled, sterling silver, mixed metal overlay, and a variety of semi-precious stones in a wide palette of colors. In 2008, she launched Gara Danielle Fine Jewelry, a collection of post modern estate pieces, using 18kt yellow and oxidized gold, with rose cut diamonds of white, cognac, and black.
Originally from New York, Gara comes from a family very involved in the fashion industry. It was only natural that she was surrounded by great clothing and jewelry growing up and inspired by them as a result. Between this and her travels abroad, designing jewelry was always something she was passionate about and enjoyed following. Gara majored in Business Marketing at Arizona State University and studied art for one year while abroad in Florence, Italy. Her trip abroad was the most influential place ever as she was truly moved by the city’s magnificent art, rich culture, and history. “The warmth of the fashion forward people of Italy made my experience memorable and inspirational. My husband and I were also married there, and it remains one of the most special places to us,” Gara shares.
Our Editor’s Pick begins with her fabulous druzy pendants, in unique varieties and creative chains. The natural beauty of the druzy is displayed from its tiny quartz crystals that form within or on the surface of the stones. The Mixed Metal Druzy Necklace features a smoky quartz druzy enchased in 14k gold fill hanging from a 14k gold filled overlay triple stand necklace. The natural essence of the crystal formations encased with a classy gold border and its triple strand necklace adds a touch of elegance. This is also available in your choice of gunmetal overlay and rose quartz. Gara and her design assistant find inspiration in a multitude of things, from the people they encounter daily or through online research and traveling to attending antique shows or discovering vintage finds at flea markets. Even looking at previous collections from past seasons can spark sudden inspiration for a new idea. Another gorgeous druzy necklace with a tad more spunk is the Braided Druzy Necklace, which displays the druzy in a completely different element. This platinum and gray necklace is their newest color and displays a platinum druzy pendant accented with fringe chains from a gray suede braided chin for an edgier look.
“Gara Danielle Jewelry is feminine and eclectic, a cross between classic and Bohemian,” she shares as the line reflects her personal style. The way Gara accessorizes is by layering pieces from both her costume and fine jewelry collections. Her costume line is comprised of mainly gold-plated sterling silver pieces and her love of using natural free form stones and wood. Her fine jewelry line, on the other hand, is a mixture of 18k yellow and oxidized gold with precious stones and rose cut diamond detailing throughout the collection. Her favorite elements to work with are precious metals, but she would like to continue seeing her fine jewelry line grow and cultivate a larger following. While Gara began her collection almost ten years ago to create unique designs for herself, she now has a greater understanding of who her customers are and designs with them specifically in mind. Gara designs new collections three to five times a year and continues to keep popular styles available as long as customers keep purchasing them. Gara has been fortunate enough to work with a great team and some of which have been with her for over nine years.
Gara has her personal favorites from each category, starting with her 14k Gold and Diamond Encrusted Snake Cuff, which she has worn for over four years. She wore it with her for both of her pregnancies as it served as protection for her children. A more affordable version, the Etched Snake Cuff is our Editor’s Pick for its doubled headed snake on both ends of the cuff. It is rare to find a cuff with double heads as opposed to the traditional head and tail. The detail of the etching on this cuff is delicately precise as you can feel the textured surface of each etch. The 14k yellow plated cuff is fabulous alone or paired with the sterling silver version for a dual effect. Her favorite earrings are her Classic Beaded Hoops (139BHE and 140BHE) which are available in both small and large as well as a variety of color options to match any outfit. “They are a great addition to any jewelry collection,” Gara says. As for necklaces, Gara is big on layering and mixing things from both her fine and costume jewelry lines. One of her new favorites is a Clear Bar-Shaped Druzy Necklace from her fashion collection. Her favorite ring is the Double Feather Ring encrusted with cognac diamonds because it is such a unique piece which she can still wear daily.
Another Editor’s Pick is the Diamond Guitar Pendant, made of oxidized sterling silver and studded with rose cut diamonds, hanging from a 14k gold-filled chain. The contrast of the dark oxidized silver with diamonds against the warm gold chain offers an unconventional yet polished look that is perfect for artistic souls. Artists and musicians can proudly wear this sparkly pendant with their favorite rock n’ rock shirt or as an everyday piece. Gara says, “We are fortunate to have a great group of celebrity clientele. Each one has a collection of Gara Danielle jewelry, whether it’s been pieces they were styled in and chose to keep, or pieces specially made for them.” Celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Kate Hudson, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Nicole Kidman, and Charlize Theron are just a few of the many who own customized pieces from Gara Danielle. Her jewelry has been continuously featured in magazines such as In Style, Lucky, Vogue, Marie Claire, US Weekly, Harper’s Bazaar, and more.
She also designed a 14k White Gold and Diamond Encrusted Snake Ring for Angelina Jolie when was pregnant with Shiloh, which she was pictured wearing several times throughout her pregnancy. The snake line in her collection has remained very popular ever since. We also selected this style for our Editor’s Pick because we love its classic symbolism and simple design. The Smooth Snake Ring is a beautifully designed double coil ring that begins with a head and ends with its tail. This ring is lightweight and comfortable enough for everyday wear while adding a subtle touch of style and symbolism to your wardrobe. The eyes can be accented with your choice of cubic zirconia and the ring is available in silver, yellow or rose gold plating.
Often associated with protection, the snake ring will be a beautiful reminder of such when worn on your finger daily.
Gara Danielle has showrooms in New York, Los Angeles, and Japan. They have a large international following as their collection continues to thrive abroad, especially in Japan. Her collections can also be found in boutiques throughout the United States as well as online retailers, where the line is flourishing in this market. She has a lot of respect for many jewelry designers but one of her favorites is Me & Ro jewelry. Aside from work, Gara loves spending quality time with her husband, four-year old son, and six-month old daughter. She adores seeing how her son’s personality continues to blossom as he is hysterical. She also enjoys traveling, reading and hiking with her two golden retrievers. Gara says, “I believe it's very important to balance both your personal and professional lives. My family is my greatest joy, but I am so fortunate to do something that I love, and that affords me such a wonderful creative outlet.” Her collection is sold at boutiques nationwide as well as department stores like Barney’s New York, Henri Bendel, Ron Herman, and Fred Segal.
