Jennifer Shon Jewelry

Delicate Wonders for Every Day of the Week
Jennifer Shon, designer and owner of Jennifer Shon Jewelry, launched her collection in 2007 her website and online store in 2008. She was inspired to launch her own jewelry line after her pieces sold so well at the Santa Monica boutique she was working at. “I love working with my hands so making jewelry comes naturally for me. I also love the way jewelry makes an outfit a little more special and think that every woman should always have a piece on to accent her life,” she shares. Jennifer Shon Jewelry offers delicate and feminine pieces that are perfect for everyday while also showcasing their creative and talented design.
Jennifer studied Graphic Design at California State University Northridge as she wanted to learn a different medium in the arts and she had never artistically worked with computers before. She has been making art her whole life as her parents were sure to enroll her in extracurricular activities as a child, which she is forever thankful. An interesting fact about Jennifer is that she also was a competitive figure skater all throughout her childhood.
For our Editor’s Picks, we selected the Two Feather Necklace, featuring two exquisitely detailed feathers floating on a gold-filled 30” chain. The beautiful contrast of the cool sterling silver feather against the warm tone of the gold feather is utterly eye-catching yet serenely simple. This design is unlike any other feather necklace we have seen on the market with its contrast of silver and gold metals. The necklace can be custom designed with your choice of both feathers in sterling silver, gold or both (as shown here). This is the perfect piece to throw over a tee or simple tunic to dress up your wardrobe. In sharing how her line is unique from others on the market, Jennifer says, “I try and make my jewelry to be simple, but add a little character or texture to the piece to make it unique.” Her ideas for designs comes to her all the time, from seeing and playing around with a newly purchased stone or when she is having her quiet time, such as taking a walk.
Her personal favorites are pieces that she wears on a regular basis, such as the Circle Eternity Necklace, which she absolutely loves. She wears this necklace all the time because it is a great everyday piece and does not clash with other necklaces she layers with. Jennifer also recently added body jewelry to her line, which she thinks is a great edgy piece that makes people look at what you are wearing. As for rings, she loves her Dangle Charm Rings, which she usually layers two or three at a
time. Her favorite earrings are her Crystal Earrings as they add a lot of sparkle without being obnoxious, and simply go with everything. We also adore these earrings as much as she does! Featured as one of our selections, the smaller version is the Small Swarovski Earrings, featuring brilliant square cut Swarovski crystals that are intricately wire wrapped in 14k gold fill or sterling silver. While these earrings may look small and subtle, they have a lot of sparkle and are the perfect accessory to dazzle up any outfit. The square crystals measure ½” and are comfortable enough to wear all day long without getting caught in your hair or being too heavy.
Jennifer designs all pieces herself and handles most of the everyday work because she likes doing it herself since she understands what her customers
want and need. She does have a staff to assist when the need arises but she likes being involved and knowing who her customers are. She tries to change up her line as much as possible but also keeps certain staples around that never go out of style. Key necklaces are the hottest item on the market these days, but most will cost you more than a pretty penny. Jennifer brings us her version of the key necklace at an affordable price of only $40. Fashionistas can indulge in owning their very own (and extremely cute) key necklace without breaking the bank. The Key Necklace is a dainty and fun piece that is adorable enough to wear on a daily basis as a vintage key delicately hangs on a 14k gold fill or sterling silver chain. The key is available in your choice of gold vermeil or sterling silver.
Jennifer’s style of jewelry is delicate pieces that one can wear everyday. “I hate when I get sick of something I bought, or that a piece is too loud that I can’t wear it without people noticing that I have worn it before,” she says. We also selected the Long Apatite Stone Necklace for its versatility and minimal elegance. Tiny apatite stones are linked throughout a 14k gold fill chain measuring 40” so you can wear this lovely piece long by itself or layered with other necklaces. The iridescent teal blue of the apatite stones against the golden chain throughout gives this necklace feminine and romantic character. The color is noticeable when this necklace is worn alone but also pairs very well when layered with necklaces because of its simplicity.
Jennifer recently designed body jewelry for Planet Blue and her collection sells very well at shoprobertson.com. In years to come, she sees her company as the same but bigger. She simply loves what she is doing and where she going and plans to start casting bracelets and rings next. She recently traveled to Spain and was deeply impressed with all the turquoise and gold jewelry displayed in the cathedral museums. On a more recent trip closer to home, she visited the Getty Villa in Malibu and was inspired by some amazing cuff pieces made in during the Roman times.
Jennifer does not exactly have one favorite jewelry designer but she certainly admires designers, like Jenny Dayco, because the designs differ so greatly from hers. Life outside of work includes having dinner and drinks with friends, as she takes what she can get in spending time with the people she love the most as her schedule is limited. She wishes she could return to painting and drawing, but at times feels that all her creativity goes to her jewelry line. Jennifer shares, “I am a big advocate of do what you love to do. I feel so blessed that my jewelry is so well received and that I get to work for myself.
