Jessica Elliot Jewelry
The Queen Bee of Jewelry in Hollywood’s Fashion Scene
Jessica Elliot was born and raised in Los Angeles and originally pursued the Hollywood dream of becoming an actress while serving as a waitress on the side to earn a living. But since she always devoted more attention to fashion and accessories at the Oscars than anything else, it was no surprise when she started creating jewelry as a hobby. Success found her as she started selling her handmade jewelry right off her neck to customers at tables. After realizing she was making more money selling jewelry than waiting tables, she quit and turned her hobby into a career. So, as a modern day Cinderella story, she went from an everyday waitress to one of Hollywood’s biggest jewelry designers, establishing her company, Jessica Elliot, in 2003. Celebrities like Jessica Alba, Kate Hudson, Christina Ricci, Janet Jackson, Hilary Swank. Katherine Heigl, Lindsay Lohan, Hayden Panettiere, Eva Longoria, and more cannot get enough of Jessica’s jewelry. Her jewelry has also been featured on shows like Desperate Housewives, Heroes, Friends, Will and Grace, Six Feet Under, and more.Jessica thinks of jewelry as an investment and creates timeless pieces continue to be stylish season after season. Her talent and edgy style is why her collection is all the rage in the Hollywood fashion scene.
Many designers today make jewelry that looks the same as the next. Jessica, on the other hand, likes her pieces to be different, by mixing opposites to breathe new life into blends of masculine and feminine, gold and silver, oxidized and polished, and delicate and bold. She says, “I think my love for vintage glam together with my city girl upbringing has led me to craft a very versatile collection exuding edgy femininity. I pair bold designs with quality handcraftsmanship and my experiences of traveling the world—these are the foundations behind my collections.” Unlike the flux of designers today who take short cuts in using cheap materials and throwing over-saturated designs into the market, Jessica truly takes pride in the quality and creativity of her pieces. She is constantly re-inventing herself as she loves combining chains and metals in new and interesting ways. In the end, she always creates original pieces, and her trademark is featuring them in solid sterling silver, solid gold, or 18K vermeil.
Within her collection, her favorites include both everyday and designer pieces. For everyday, Jessica loves the initials, the zodiacs and the “Key to Key” chains because she puts her personal spin on these common styles to create her own version of unique pieces. She has a lot more favorites in the designer categories, starting with the ever so popular Wrought Iron “Clover” Cuffs in either vermeil or sterling. Like Heidi Montag and Lindsay Lohan, she loves these cuffs because they are substantial, bold pieces that are also delicate with its detailed touch of woven clovers throughout. These stunning cuffs are adjustable and meant to be worn low on the wrist, but will garner tremendous attention with its lace-like pattern of hundreds of tiny clover cutouts. She is also ecstatic about her new “Scale” collection, featuring a gorgeous scale pattern running through shapes and accented by enamel in the middle row. By far her favorite group to date, this collection is made with a unique method of enameling that allows you to see through the enamel like stained glass. The Vermeil Tear Scale Earrings with Plum/Smoke are especially stunning when the light shines through because it hits the oval shaped honeycomb weave of gold while emitting a colorful reflection of magenta and smoky grey from the enamel.
Jessica sells to department stores, including Bloomingdales and Henri Bendel, as well as 200 boutiques nationwide and internationally. Aside from this collection, she also recently started a separate line, Skinny, which she hopes to eventually branch from jewelry and accessories into clothing, belts and more. In addition to managing her booming lines, Jessica also plans to start a Jessica Elliot “Fine” collection in the future, which will promote jewelry with more solid gold and precious stones. Great gifts this holiday season are the Zodiac necklaces and bracelets. Each Zodiac pendant and bracelet starring one of the 12 zodiac signs on the front with a star and the zodiac named engraved in the back. These pieces can be enameled in colors corresponding to the four elements (water, earth, fire, air) or ordered simply in sterling silver. Or give a more personalized gift with Vermeil Initial Necklace, showing a small initial embedded against a tarnished background atop a hammered gold circle. Jessica also has a divine selection of bangles, in vermeil, rose gold, or sterling, in the signature nailhead design and inverted nailhead design.
Her most practical piece that she wears more than any other and which also happens to be one of Jessica Alba’s favorites is the Vermeil Rosary Necklace with Mesh Clover and Smoky Topaz, a “rosary” style necklace made with five smoky topaz beads on each side connected to a wrought iron gold clover in the middle, with another string of beads streaming down. This long and lovely necklace is versatile enough to be worn with a cocktail dress or jeans, and is available in pearls and hematite as well with your choice of a clover or diamond wrought iron pendant. If you want to make a personal statement, wear a sassy “Use Your Words” necklace, bracelet, or ring, in your choice of 10 different words, like “mama, bella, dream, amor,” and more in silver or vermeil. The Sterling Long Iron Clover 3-way Necklace is based on historic vintage wrought iron designs and can be worn long, double wrapped, or in a “Y” shape. This sophisticated piece has six wrought iron clovers with intricate detail, entwined along a sterling chain and can be paired with matching earrings, bracelet, and ring. The Short Vermeil Open Clover Necklace with Hematite is both classic and modernly feminine, with different sized open clovers and tiny hematite briolettes interlaced on a medium vermeil chain.
The Vermeil Handcuff Choker is one of her signature pieces, as sported by Lindsay Lohan and Avril Lavigne. This choker features a pair of miniature gold vermeil handcuffs as its centerpiece, hanging from a medium gold chain. It goes with everything, and also has matching earrings, a bracelet, and an anklet. This can be ordered in sterling silver or with lighter chains. This piece is edgy yet playful. Another signature and a celebrity favorite is her antique keys collection. The new Small and Medium Vermeil Antique Keys is a stunning necklace showing off two glimmering, golden keys, cast from original early 1900 antique skeleton keys, in different sizes hanging from a 24” textured link gold chain. Unlock your wardrobe with this timeless and dramatic piece, which can be worn alone or layered with other necklaces. For an actual piece of history, the "Angel" Track Medal on a sterling link chain with signature open clovers is cast from Jessica’s great grandfather’s original track medals from the early 1900’s. This particular medal exhibits a graceful angelic figure against a cross presenting the words, "Cuba, Puerto Rico, Philippines, and USA."
Your lobes will be the center of attention with her handmade “open” hoops that come in different shapes, sizes, and semi-precious or precious stones. The Open Oval Hoops with Labradorite are a favorite for its long, delicate form and unbridled sexiness as they elongate your neck and draw attention to it. These slender oval hoops go in through the lobe to hang alone in the bank while the front dangles an iridescent and glittering labradorite. The open oval hoops were seen on Kristen Bell and in In Style July 2008. The Square Spiked Studs offer a touch of rock star glam its square spikes and smooth polished surface (as seen in In Style August 2007). The Istanbul collection, inspired by her trip to Turkey, showcases matching necklaces and earrings with intricately cut-out shapes and designs reflective of the beautiful architecture and windows of Istanbul. The "Istanbul Moon" Earrings are hoops in the shape of a half moon with exquisite cut out filigree detail. For simple gals, the Graduated Open Clover Earrings, featuring three silver graduated open clover silhouettes each hanging prettily below the other, is ultra feminine. The Nailhead Hoops come in various sizes and deliver both edginess and class with tiny nailheads adorning the exterior of the hoops (as seen in In Style October 2008). Don’t forget to accessorize your keys or handbag with her signature “Key To” Keychains, molded after an antique key from 1904. Choose from four different sayings and your choice of antique brass, copper, or nickel finish.
Jessica was born with a creative soul, as were her family members. Her mother is an artist and graphic designer, stepfather a photographer and exhibition printer, stepmother a graphic designer, father an art dealer and writer, and sister a chef. She majored in Theatre as her high school specialized in the Arts, and in retrospect, was probably the “biggest drama nerd” there. And like many of the other girls, she also had a crush on the lead hunk of the school plays, Jack Black. Her hands were always busy, from taking art classes to making jewelry and clothes for fun. Following high school, she earned a degree in Creative Writing and English Literature from Pitzer, a member of the Claremont Colleges. Jessica is inspired by everything she sees, and with a passion for travel, she has gotten many ideas from traveling to Morocco, Turkey, Thailand, Indonesia, and Cuba. In addition, her love for vintage will always be a driving force behind her creativity as she loves finding pieces to “inspire and metamorphasize into something” of her own.
She is the sole creator and designer of the collection, and sees through every step from designing and creating the first sample to teaching her team to do the same. Jessica is truly a woman that can do it all. Aside from managing multiple jewelry lines, she recently became a new mom to a baby girl nine months ago. Jessica says, “That has been the most inspiring and life-changing event in my life. If things are rough and I’m having a bad day, seeing her big toothless grin makes everything okay.” At the end of the day, what inspires Jessica is her desire to create pieces that look great on all women despite their attire, from tank top and jeans to a dress on the red carpet. She feels that jewelry should be the center of an outfit as opposed to an afterthought, and should be versatile enough to be dress up or down any outfit. Jessica is now a believer as she would not dare leave the house without finishing her outfit with a splash of metal.
