Lulu Organics

Beauty on the Home Range

Lulu OrganicsLinda Aldredge was raised in a home where holistic and nutritional healing was number one.  As an adult, she was repeatedly frustrated with products on the market and woke up one day with the notion to teach herself how to make every single product she used in her home, including beauty and otherwise.  While some items were a disaster, most turned out amazing and Linda was instantly hooked.  What began as making gifts for friends turned into a desire to sell her products.  Her first product, the hair powder, was inspired by her love for body and hair powders. Since she never found a nice smelling powder that did not include talc, an ingredient she likes to avoid, she thought, why not?

Lulu OrganicsHer signature Hair Powder is known as a “light powder for hair on days of unwash.”  She has used this since college on days when she skipped a washing.  This powder is easy and fun to use as you simply sprinkle a dime size amount into your hands and rub through your roots.  This is 100% USDA organic and talc free and available in four feminine and lovely scents; Lavender and Clary Sage, Patchouli and Amber, Jasmine, and Tuberose.  Lavender and Clary Sage is comprised of the clean and intoxicating aroma of lavender infused with invigorating clary sage.  This fabulous scent is also available in a 1 oz. travel size to keep in your purse or luggage for when you need it the most. For a muskier scent, the Patchouli delivers just that with a hint of powdery amber.  The Jasmine is absolutely romantic and lovely as it captures the sweet scent of a jasmine in full bloom.  The Tuberose is exotic as it exudes the fragrance of lilies.  Whatever scent you prefer, you cannot go wrong with this miracle hair powder that will do wonders on an unwashed hair day.

Creativity runs through her blood as she was a graphic designer in fashion and beauty publishing and worked in corporate fashion for many years before launching Lulu Organics.  Her previous careers are examples of using her creativity to earn money but her real passion was working with her hands, from weaving, knitting, crocheting, sewing, and anything that involved her hands.  Linda doubled majored Lulu Organicsin Graphic Design and Journalism at San Francisco State University with her eyes on the Art Director position at Rolling Stone.  As luck would have it, her dreams changed.  A fun fact about Linda is that she owns seven acres of land in upstate New York, where she built a tree house with three builder friends and a generator.  This is not your average tree house with its sleek modern design and sturdy glass panes.  “It is hands down the most creative thing I have ever done and ultimately gave me the confidence to start a business,” she says.

Lulu Organics is unique from other items on the market because all products are handmade and created with 99% organic ingredients.  The company is a small business and they like it that way as they take pride on their products and keeping things simple. “We'd rather work in small batches to ensure the quality of all of our products than rely on gnarly preservatives and the like,” says Linda.  Her favorite beauty line is Aubrey Organics because Aubrey Hampton was a huge inspiration in starting Lulu Organics.  Aubrey is thoughtful and successful but never comprises his ideals along the way to attaining success.

Lulu OrganicsWe also love the Ruby Mint Lip Balm as it is also USDA Organic and petroleum and paraben free.   This lip balm holds necessary emollient oils infused with a hint of mint and painted with a touch of ruby color. Say goodbye to your Chapstick and hello to Lulu Organics lip balm.  It is better for your body and delivers the right amount of shine and color.  But the hair powder remains Linda’s favorite item because she is a very outdoorsy yet girly person and it is the perfect freshener and must-have for camping and being upstate.  New products on the horizon include their Cardamom Lip Balm which surprises her every time she uses it.  In addition, soaps will soon be added to the line.  She hopes to sell an arsenal of wonderful products down the road while remaining a down-to-earth homegrown outfit.  Linda says, “Be true to yourself and your passions.  Life is short, so live it to the fullest.”  So do just that and pamper yourself the way you deserve.  Lulu Organics is sold nationwide at salons and apothecaries.
