Ice Ice Baby: Homemade Pops without the Wait

ZokuInstant popsicles, ice pops, lollies, whatever you call them, are the hottest (or should we say coldest) craze of the year.  In an age of instant gratification, gone are the days of waiting impatiently for homemade ice pops to freeze overnight.  Using innovative and patented technology, Zoku offers healthy and creative pops in a matter of minutes.  The brains behind Zoku are President, Ken Zorovich, and business partner, Yos Kumthampinij.  Zoku is unique from other pop makers on the market because it is the only pop maker that can create pops in 7-12 minutes.  It also allows users to make healthy yet artistic snacks as accessories gives consumers a full range of creativity with delightful layers, shapes, and add-ons.  All products are BPA and phthalate free.  Zoku began developing the concept for its brand in 2007 and officially launched in 2009.  The company is dedicated to providing unique products for the home as their mission is to create things that will make lives better through intelligent design and engineering.  Currently, Zoku products are being sold online through their website zokuhome.com and Amazon.  Stores including Williams Sonoma, Bed Bath & Beyond, Macy’s, and Sur La Table also carry Zoku products.

Prior to forming Zoku, Zorovich and Kumthampinij operated a design firm developing intellectual property and brand support for companies such as Nike, Fisher-Price, and Mattel,  to name a few.  Zorovich graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Industrial Design while his business partner Kumthampinij earned the same as well as a Master's Degree in Design Management from Syracuse.  Being a team of creative industrial designers and entrepreneurs, they loved creating innovative products and unique brands.  “We were well versed in the ability to develop and design patentable ideas and turn them into marketable products for our clients, so we decided to invest in ourselves and create our own "client" and intellectual property.  Zoku was born!,” Zorovich says.  They were inspired to create Zoku because they noticed nothing had changed for almost 100 years in the way that ice pops were made at home.  Zorovich adds, “We wondered if we could make ice pops faster than a traditional mold that requires waiting overnight for pops to freeze. After much trial and error we discovered that not only could we make them extremely fast, but we could quickly make very unique pops such as creamsicles, layered pops, and pops with fruit slices on the sides.”  Such discoveries led to the development of the Zoku Quick Pop Maker and Zoku's accessories.

ZokuOur Editor’s Pick, the Zoku Quick Pop Maker freezes ice pops in about 7-12 minutes without electricity as the base is filled with freezing liquid similar to that found in ice cream makers.  This amazing and completely one-of-a-kind pop maker makes striped pops, yogurt pops or flavored core pops in a matter of minutes.  Unlike any other device on the market, simply store the compact hard plastic base in the freezer overnight, insert the pop stick into each individual well, pour in your choice of filling (juice, puree, yogurt, pudding) and enjoy fresh pops at a moment’s notice.  The end result is a smooth and even-textured ice pop with the consistency of sorbet as the quick freezing process produces tiny ice crystals.  This unit comes with 3 individual non-stick cast aluminum pop slots (for easy removal) to make a trio of pops each time, as well as six durable, reusable plastic pop sticks that allow pops to adhere securely.  The included special drip guards guarantee tidy eating as it prevents runny drips.  The kit also comes with a specially designed Super Tool which screws into the pop stick handle to help quickly release the frozen treats from their molds.  This unit can make up to 9 pops before needing to be “recharged” in the freezer again.  Also available are the Duo Quick Pop Maker and Single Quick Pop Maker for those who want smaller portions and a pop maker on hand for those special indulgences.

ZokuNothing boosts creativity better than excellent tools that allow imagination and ideas to roam.  Zoku Tools allows users to make unique pops fast with their easy-to-use tools which include stencils, drip-free pour cups, a fruit wand, tray, and siphon.  One can neatly pour juice and make flavored core pops, apply fruit slices and stenciled cut-outs or make pops with cool angles.  The kit comes with 3 drip-free Zoku pour cups for neat and accurate pours and a siphon for making flavored core pops and pouring accurate layers with the angle tray.  ZokuThe angle tray can make insane Zoku geometry and angles.  In addition, the heart and star stencil makes for fun additions to the pop while the fruit wand helps to easily apply stencil cutouts and fruit slices.  Zoku allows families to create pops that best suit their needs, whether it is allergies, eating organic, restricting calories, or avoiding high fructose corn syrup.  With Zoku, making your own pops is healthy and fun for everyone!

ZokuAfter you have exhausted your own personal variations and creative ideas, be sure to check out the Zoku Quick Pops Recipe Book, filled with over 40 quick and delicious recipes for everyone to enjoy.  “This book will help you master the art of creating Zoku Quick Pops faster than ever!” as it also includes Zoku’s original pop making techniques, decorating ideas, and tips to inspire fellow Zoku enthusiasts in creating their own unique recipes.  91 pages filled with notable must-try recipes like Salty Milk Chocolate Butterscotch, Apple Pie a la Mode, Kiwi Cherry, and more.  Zoku’s Quick Pop Maker has received extraordinary recognition for its originality and has been featured in numerous magazines, online and print publications, as well as winning many awards worldwide.

ZokuFrozen treats and pops are always a hit with adults, kids, and guests.  If you need to store pops ahead of time for a larger crowd or simply to have on hand, the Zoku Storage Case is the answer.  This convenient storage case allows you to store and display up to 6 pops in an airtight enclosure to preserve freshness.  The pops sit upright in the storage slots of the container while the clear storage cover allows you to easily see your pops in the freezer.  When ready, simply bring the storage case to the table and remove its cover to display your beautiful frozen creations.  Zorovich’s favorite thing about Zoku is that he gets to watch the expression on people’s faces when they use the Quick Pop Maker for the first time.  He also loves the fact that it is patented and the only thing available on the market that instantly makes pops.  In the coming years, Zoku is wired to innovate as they plan on continuing to develop useful products for the home that will resonate with consumers.  Since the Quick Pop Maker is their first product introduction, be on the lookout for more products to come!  To purchase Zoku products and visit their blog with new recipes and featured pops, visit zokuhome.com.
